False Hopesters – American Red Cross and Samaritans Purse and Bono U2 One
American Red Cross
The claim that the American Red Cross CEO receives $700,000 annually and that only a small portion of donations reach those in need contains both elements of truth and exaggeration.
CEO Salary: The current CEO of the American Red Cross, Gail McGovern, was paid $694,000 in 2018, a figure that has risen to approximately $832,000 in total compensation by 2022.
Samaritans Purse
per julieroys.com —
Public documents show Samaritan’s Purse has spent hundreds of millions less than it raised in recent years and has amassed assets exceeding a billion dollars.
U2 Bono ONE
Owen Benjamin, a comedian known for his controversial statements, has publicly criticized U2’s Bono for his involvement with charitable organizations, particularly the ONE Campaign, which Bono co-founded. Benjamin claimed that Bono’s relief efforts, particularly in Africa, were a scam, focusing on the revelation that only a small percentage of the funds raised by ONE were actually donated to charitable causes. Specifically, it was reported that only about 1% of the funds raised by the organization went directly to charity, while the rest was used for advocacy, salaries, and administrative cost.
All these scams and trickery reminds me of the recent (2024) (presumed) similar attempted scam by THE ROCK and OPRAH regarding their (seemingly) baloney aid fund for the Lahain DEW attack site (intentional burnout to allow land-grab).
