Pigs are Not Required to help you and this is proof that they can refuse to help you, resulting in you getting killed, yet they can not be prosecuted.
Interesting how their lawyer cites the Fourth Amendment as the reason the deputies couldn’t act, yet the Fourth Amendment didn’t seem to come into play at all when they were requiring her to identify herself.
I would just like to point out. She had a head injury that the deputy pointed out himself. He even said it looked fresh. He wasn’t worried about her rights. Him insisting on her identifying herself shows that. They simply didn’t want to be bothered by her.
If she had a warrant they’d find room in their car
The incriminating statement by the cops happened when one officer asked the other, “do you want to give her a ride?” And he said, “no, not really.” That completely blows the scummy lawyers argument out of the water, because by their own words, they had a choice which they considered for a second, only to agree that they didn’t want to giver her a ride. By that standard, it’s clear that giving her a ride was an option. They just refused to do it.
I remember being told as a kid, if you are ever lost or in trouble, find a police officer….. They will help you!……Man, how things have changed!
If the police refuse to provide transportation for a woman clearly in distress, who claims to be a victim of domestic abuse, and an officer notices a lump on her head that could indicate a concussion or something more serious, and then they leave her behind, they should be held accountable for any grave consequences that follow, including her death!
Walked away from one domestic abuser right into another couple abusers.
This poor woman. Beaten, dehydrated and abused. She had absolutely nowhere to turn and everyone she begged for help treated her like she was trash. Stranded to walk for miles with nowhere to go in the dark with no phone. Her sitting in the road was her giving up.
It’s too bad she wasn’t rude or refused to ID, she might’ve gotten to spend the night in jail.
As a Person who lives with a Brain Injury, I think The Woman probably had a Concussion. The Officer even noted a Major Lump on her head. Her slurring her words could have been from a Brain Injury, and not being able to concentrate or answer their questions quickly. She was in Need of Medical Attention. She had Injuries and she was not suicidal. After a Brain Injury, you can’t make decisions very well, and those Officers were her Only chance. She had No Phone to call for help. When they callously left her there, She became hopeless in her confused state. She was alone, concussed, Injured, possibly high, and had been physically abused. Her “Help” came, but left her, not even able to call out for help. She couldn’t physically or mentally make it another couple miles to a gas station, and they left her begging for help on the side of the road. This is Heart Shattering.
People forget the power the act of kindness can have on a persons life.
